Vitiligo Project

Vitiligo or Vitíligo is a degenerative disease of the skin, in which melanocytes (the cells responsible for skin pigmentation) die leaving melanin (the substance producing the pigmentation of the skin) in the area where cell death has ocurred.

This degenerative disease has been really present un my life because my mother and sister suffer from.

Overtime I have seen the progress of this degenerative disease in the skin of my sister.
Those little white shapes, part of my sister´s skin, inspires me to create a project called "Vitiligo"

In this project I start to read and study the shapes of my sister´s hands. I selected some of the shapes, and then I embroider individually in a textile support.

Después de unos meses sin bordar vuelvo a mi querido soporte textil. 

Esta vez con más ganas que nunca ya que ahora estoy realizando una nueva serie de bordado que se expondrán en Room Art Fair #3 

Room Art Fair es la feria de arte más joven e independiente de Europa que este año celebra su tercera edición del 22 al 24 de noviembre en el hotel Praktik Metropol en la Gran Vía de Madrid. Será, de nuevo, un encuentro entre diferentes agentes del arte actual con un mismo compromiso: disminuir la barrera que separa el mercado del arte, muchas veces elitista, del público general donde se encuentran los futuros coleccionistas.

La forma arbitraria de establecer un símbolo para cada letra refleja la no naturalidad del lenguaje.

Y hoy en día sigo trabajando en ello. 

Kidneys Project

Last year i made one project called "Kidneys". It was inspired in the 60´s style of interior designs with kidneys shapes.

I made one collection of two silk-screen print.

This year my sister Elena continue with the project making this silk-screen print in tables.

I´m really happy of work with my sister in one comun project.
